The Rotary Foundation Important Events

 
Two important events are coming for the The Rotary Foundation.  
1.  A repeat of the 1st OnLIne Grants Seminar, and 
2.  A movie night as a fundraiser for Foundation.  Hidden Figures.
 

REPEAT OF FIRST ONLINE GRANTS SEMINAR

The first of the Online Grants Qualifying seminars will be repeated this coming Thursday at 8.30pm. This session is primarily designed for those Rotarians who had planned to participate last time, but for one reason or another were unable to. However, it is an opportunity for any other club to start the qualification process. To qualify, participants will need to participate in a total of 3 online seminars between now and February. Please contact DRFC Geoff James at geoffandmeryl@aanet.com.au as soon as possible if interested. Participants will need to be sent a link to join in session. Secretaries, please pass this message on to Foundation Chairs in your club.

 

FOUNDATION MOVIE FUNDRAISER

After successful movie fundraisers in previous years, the Australian Foundation office has negotiated a deal with 20th Century Fox to screen a top class commercial movie before it is released to the public. The film is called HIDDEN FIGURES and tells the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. The official release date for this movie is February 16, but Rotary Clubs in Australia can have access from February 1st. This is an excellent “Feel Good” movie and could be an excellent fundraiser for Polio.

20th Century Fox Film Distributors do not own the cinemas, so clubs or groups will need to negotiate a deal with your local cinema manager. 20th Century Fox Film Distributors have agreed for a pre release screening to assist Rotary Clubs with our fund raising for the End Polio Now program.

Recommendation

  • ∑         When you contact the cinema  ask for their group booking rate, usually around $10 per person.
  • ∑         Recommend you charge Rotarians & guests $20 per head.
  • ∑         Profit goes to End Polio Now program
  • ∑         Remember $2 for each $1 raised, from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

In addition, the district will have available a copy of the Centennial video of the Foundation in a format that can be screened in cinemas – this can also be shown on the night.
