Last week President of the Rotary Club of Colac, Glenn Paranthoiene-Small, presented local architect, Venturer Scout Leader and Rotarian, Geoff De La Rue with a Sapphire Pin, an extension to the Paul Harris Fellow recognition he was awarded in 2007.

Geoff is a tireless community worker and leader, with a consistent, positive, resolute approach.  His commitment to youth programs which also have an international outcome, improving the lives of people both here and in other countries less fortunate than our own, is exemplary and one of long standing.

Geoff has been President, Secretary, Youth Director and has assisted on many committees in the Rotary Club or Colac,  and  has led several humanitarian trips to Fiji, both with Rotarians and Venturers,  where they work to improve the village lives of the Fijian people.

He has been a Rotarian since 1994 and has also given 18 years of service to the scouting movement.

Such is the respect with which he is held in the village of Namuamua in Fiji,  Geoff has been made an honorary Chief.

This Sapphire Pin recognition is to say thank you to Geoff for making a difference in his Rotary club and community, and in the lives of less fortunate people in the world.  This world is a better place for having his contribution and presence.
