In the last month or so there has been a project on board which eventuated & was first instigated by Rotary Warrnambool (group five Clubs) in conjunction with the Kerang Rotary Club and Kerang Toyota,(Principle Dealer John Bradbury.)

A fair bit of work & effort by one of our local Rotarians Chris Ellis has been happening behind the scenes. Chris has been coordinating the project this end, along with help from other Rotarians.

It's all about an exciting drought relief initiative to take as many of the Grade 3 to 6 primary school students from the local area to an AFL football match in Melbourne and bus costs and tickets paid for by Warrnambool Rotary & Toyota Australia.

There were some 200 tickets allocated in total, and because of the number of primary schools, and students involved there had to be a selection process put in place, based on drawing names out of a hat, to make it fair. Other measures were that a student has to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, along with teachers.

There are 2 football matches Round 17 Sunday 27th July, Melbourne v North Melb at the MCG. Toyota Australia Game Round 18 Sunday 3rd August, St Kilda v Port Adelaide at the Telstra Dome.

Our past President Bruce Carey, and now President Jenny Kelly from the Kerang Rotary Club are very excited about this event especially with the feedback from schools being so positive. It's also great to see other Rotary Clubs (Warrnambool), pushing through such a positive project for the children/families and primary schools in our drought affected region.
