Welcome

About the project:
“Enhance Work Placement Experience for Everyone” aims to enhance career education & work experience opportunities by increasing access of rural students to ‘industries of choice’ in larger communities.
The GSGLLEN will co-ordinate collaborative partnerships between all local secondary schools and the Rotary District 9780 to identify, and recruit Rotary host families to billet rural students in safe accommodation so they can have access to broader industry placements.
The program provides specialist Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & travel for work experience related requirements for students, and a series of workshops for students, parents and employers to build greater understanding of the importance of work experience, employer expectations and VET pathways. Practical tools for host employers will also be developed.
Why are we doing this?
Many of our current work experience students' career aspirations have been limited by practicalities such as their knowledge of someone locally who works in a particular industry or having a family member in a larger centre. Often, they make do with what work experience options are here locally, rather than spreading their wings and fully exploring their stated career goals in a larger centre.
Who will this project be for?
The project will support students completing Work Experience in Year 10 from the following schools in the Glenelg and Southern Grampians communities:
- Balmoral K-12 Community College
- Bayview College
- Portland Secondary College
- Heywood & District Secondary College
- Casterton Secondary College
- Baimbridge College
- Good Shepherd College
- The Hamilton and Alexandra College
- Monivae College
as well as other education settings that host Year 10 (or equivalent) students.
We aim to extend the project beyond these two regions by connecting more broadly with LLENs from across District 9780.
