June is Rotary Fellowship month. Going forward there will hopefully be more opportunities to enjoy some face-to-face fellowship with our Rotary friends after a couple of months of virtual contact only.
How nice it will be to see real people again. Oh happy days
But, do be careful if you are or are contemplating face-to-face meetings. Remember to do your risk assessment taking into account the latest directions from the government but also thinking about the age and health profiles of your members and the need for social distancing and hygiene controls.
Make sure your members are fully consulted on making this decision. For those who feel they can’t join face-to-face meetings, please find a way for them to participate virtually. We have all learned how to use virtual technology well - because we had to. So don’t lose the gains we have made!
DG’s Project, Purple House, donations are trucking their way to Alice Springs via Adelaide. Thank you to all who donated soaps and toiletries. Special thanks to Rotarian Terry Ayres who built the large box for the goods and to his wife Irene who made and donated lots of beanies and scarves. I can’t wait to see photos of Sarah opening the box and using the goods so generously donated by D9780. Many thanks to Pickering Transport who agreed to carry the box without charge.
Our 2020 Conference Speaker Seriesis going from strength to strength. Nobel Prize winning Peacemakers John Rodsted and Mette Eliesusen will be speaking on line tonight. This is the fourth in our series of Keynote speakers from the Swan Hill District Conference, cancelled due to COVID-19. They just keep getting better!
Sadly this is my last article to you as District Governor. Thank you all for your generosity and commitment to all things Rotary. I wish you all a happy changeover as the new leadership teams in each Club prepare to take over the reins. I wish incoming DG Phil Beasley and wife Judy and the District Leadership Team a wonderful year. Please support them, as you have my husband Peter and I and this year’s amazing Leadership Team. Thanks guys and gals!
Always remember.. Rotary connects the world!

As a founding member and charter secretary of RC Nambour, Sir Clem became District Governor in 1965-66, and went on to serve as President of Rotary International in 1978-79.
Sir Clem was a giant in Rotary history as the instigator of the 3-H program that led to the polio eradication effort. We know him as the person who started the goal of Polio Eradication.
A wonderful life that impacted and bettered the lives of those around him and around the world. Sir Clem made a difference and changed lives now and into the future.
Everyone in the Rotary world and more broadly will be saddened by this news but also thankful that we were connected through Rotary
