Message from our DIO - Stallholders Liability Alternative
“Rotary’s broker has ceased their endeavours to arrange automatic cover for uninsured stallholders as part of Rotary’s annual liability policy. This is due to not all Rotary districts throughout Australia returning the necessary information.

Clubs that have activities that involve stallholders, such as Sunday Markets, Fairs, Swap Meets & Motor Shows, have two options:
  • Arrange an annual policy themselves (I am happy to assist with this on pro-bono basis)
  • Ensure than all stallholders have their own insurance (& maintain a copy of this insurance for at least 7 years)
Due to changes in legislation, the $6 option, where a form is completed & sent off after the activity is no longer available. Additionally, under no circumstances should clubs be seen to be selling insurance.

Please let me know if any questions by email (preferred) to don@gibvic.com.au or if unable to email, then by phone to 0419 390 303”.

Don Shields, Rotary District 9780 Insurance Officer

Bring Back the Buzz
Rotarians For Bees are holding their major fundraiser for the year on February 1st 2021. The theme is "Bring Back The Buzz" and Rotarians can attend the evening on-line or in-person.

The outstanding guest speaker presenters will be talking about providing habitat for bees and other pollinators in an urban environment (including nature strips, streetscapes, residential and public gardens and rooftop or balcony gardens) and agricultural regeneration in rural settings. You will be entertained and fascinated by the presentations from Past Rotary International President Ian Riseley explaining the importance of Environment Sustainability as our newest seventh area of focus, Costa Georgiadis (ABC Garden Program Host and Rotary E/S Ambassador talking about habitat in all settings), Alick Osborne (Rotarian and CEO of Seasol talking about regenerative agriculture and major future advances, and Fiona Sutton-Wilson, CEO of the wonderful Earthwatch organisation in Australia…announcing some incredible initiatives of Earthwatch and looking for Rotarians and their families to get involved as citizen scientists .

In addition, Fiona Chambers, CEO of the Wheen Bee Foundation and great friend and partner to Rotary and Rotarians for Bees will explain their amazing programs like Bee Friendly Farming and how Rotarians can be part of the new future.
It really does promise to be a wonderful , informative and exciting evening in the very capable hands of Jonathon Shepherd as MC with exceptional raffle and auction prize opportunities.
