Opportunity for year 11 sudents

Dear Rotary Clubs across Australia,

We hope this finds you all going well. We meet regularly with Rotary District Chairs who put in an incredible amount of work supporting the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) every year, and together we decided to send a general all Clubs update in the lead up to the 2023 NYSF Year 12 Program.
Thank you for amazing efforts in encouraging local students to apply and for endorsing and financially supporting so many young Australians to realise their science and technology futures.
The NYSF Year 12 Program will again deliver a mix of interactive digital and in-person sessions between 10 & 24 January 2023. Find out how students have rated the COVID safe format here in our report (PDF).
We would love your help to:
  1. Encourage applicants and schools – resources here.
  2. Help volunteer in January - apply here.
To find out more about the NYSF and what we do for our STEM students, please visit our website here.
We have had clubs and individual Rotarians enquire about how they can support a student in need outside of their area. NYSF runs an Access and Equity Scholarship fund and through this channels donations to students in need.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch at nysf@nysf.edu.au if there’s anything we can assist you with over the next few weeks.

Kind regards,

Dr Melanie Bagg, CEO NYSF and the NYSF Team

P.S. We are currently updating the contact details for Rotary Clubs. If there is a more appropriate email address for your Club, please let us know.

World Polio Day 2022

Take action for World Polio Day: 24 October
Every year, the Rotary community mobilizes for World Polio Day to raise awareness about global efforts to end polio for good. If we stay committed, we can make polio the second human disease ever to be eradicated.

How can you take part in this year’s World Polio Day?
Host an event or activity. The Rotary Club of Adliya and the Rotaract Club of Bahrain planned a World Polio Day yoga event for women to raise awareness about polio in their community.

Plan a fundraiser. The OKC Midtown Rotary Club in Oklahoma, U.S., held a bocce ball tournament to raise funds for End Polio Now.

Post on social media. Use the assets in the World Polio Day Toolkit to help spread the word about World Polio Day and the importance of polio eradication.

However you decide to get involved, register your club’s participation for World Polio Day! Do so by 13 October and you’ll get early access to Rotary’s Global Update one week before World Polio Day. The program is scheduled to be shown on 24 October on Rotary’s Facebook page and endpolio.org.
Tell us about your club's participation

Nominations for Rotary People of Action Honors: Champions of Inclusion

This is a reminder that nominations for the Rotary People of Action Honors: Champions of Inclusion are due on Friday 30 September 2022.

All Rotary members have the opportunity to nominate one Rotarian, Rotaractor, Peace Fellow or program alumni that meets the recognition criteria. The complete list of nomination criteria can be found on the official nomination form. Regrettably, those previously honored as White House “Champions of Change,” “Women of Action,” “Global Women of Action,” “Responsible Business Honoree,” “Champions of Peace,” “Young Innovators,” “Connectors Beyond Borders,” “Champions of Health,” or “Champions of Girls’ Empowerment” are not eligible for this recognition.

When all of the nominations have been received, a Presidential panel appointed by the Rotary President will review the semi-final nominations and recommend six finalists and two alternates for the President’s final selection of six honorees. Honorees will be notified of their selection via email by the end of November.

Below is a link to the electronic nomination form. Please read the instructions and guidelines carefully and be mindful of the eligibility criteria.
