Rotary Club of Geelong East launched their new Environmental project – adopting the Walk against Waste from the Alfredton Rotary Club. Armed with tongs and buckets, we scoured the area around the Barwon River and RCGE Safety Marker # 39. Meeting up at 5:30PM, twelve of us had time for a catch up and a chat whilst strolling around and collecting a variety of rubbish. It felt good and we made a difference to the environment. Over a picnic afterwards, we talked about the next steps.
Next Steps:
• Have a regular monthly walk - advertise
• Take a clean up set to your regular monthly walking group
• Take them to schools
• Have clean up sets and information available every time we have an event
• Look for sponsors KFC, McDonalds – may give vouchers for prizes
• Ask people to post photos and send us a link
