The Rotary Club of Warrnambool is seeking support from the District clubs

Support Request from Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central

Dear Club President,

One of our Rotarians, James Mepham was a photographer in the Australian Defence Forces. Since leaving the army he has set up his own photography business and has worked for many not for profit organizations including Rotary International and UNICEF as a volunteer professional photographer.

He has two Rotary projects in January where he has been asked to create a photo essay/documentary – one in India ( a mobile surgery ) and the other in Tanzania ( Teacher in a box project.) He is married and has a young family. Whilst he is more than happy to donate his time and expertise, the cost of getting there and back and his accommodation and living expenses are quite considerable.

The Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central will financially assist James in his humanitarian endeavours, but we are unable to fully fund him. We are calling on other Clubs in District 9780 to consider funding James travel costs by committing to a small donation of $200.

The donation should be thought of as seed funding for these projects. James will capture the essence of the projects in images and these images will be used by Rotary International (RAWCS ) to market the projects and extend their reach.

James is committed to assisting with the photography requirements of four international projects this year as a self funded volunteer. He estimates that the cost of travel and accommodation will be $20,000. Please consider this request amongst the many that you receive and if you see the value in supporting James’s endeavour, please either send a cheque to the Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central or go to www.gofundme.com/rotarianjamesmepham and sponsor James directly.

Yours in Rotary service,
Lew Officer ( On behalf of our convalescing President Doug Gardner)
