At a gala event, held at the Ballarat Golf Club on December 8, 2013 The Alfredton Satellite Club was officially chartered as The Rotary Club of Alfredton, to become the 61st Club in District 9780.

Incoming President Jill Oliver was inducted by D9780 Governor, Ken McInerney, followed by 24 new members inducted, with another 7 to follow in the coming weeks. Over 100 Rotarians were in attendance, including Past District Governors, Assistant Governors, Presidents or representatives from most of the Ballarat Rotary Clubs and Clubs from around the District, Two members of the newly formed Rotary Club of Alfredton, President Jill Oliver and PP (Wendouree) and mentor member, Kathy Rivett were also recipients of Paul Harris Fellow recognition on the day

In 2011 The Alfredton Rotary Satellite Club, a project of the Rotary Club of Wendouree, was accepted to be one of 200 Clubs across the globe to participate in a new Rotary International Pilot Program, enabling clubs to experiment with alternative membership types & club operations, investigate the impact of these on member activities & engagement, membership growth & retention, improved member diversity, increased community & international service, increased support of The Rotary Foundation, plus overall club effectiveness. Out of the 200 Rotary clubs across the globe participating in this Pilot program, Alfredton Rotary Satellite Club is the very first to be chartered as a full Rotary Club

Over the past 3 years, members have looked at different ways of operating. Their new way of holding weekly meetings , usually running for one hour with no meal or speaker,  has fitted in well with their busy lifestyles.

The Charter Lunch was a celebration of change and innovation, showing how Rotary Clubs can evolve to fit the current needs of members, and in that process attract more members to

Engage Rotary- Change Lives.
