Howard and Jill Randall (RC Torquay) have just returned from 2 weeks in Japan where they spent time with four exchange students from District 9780.  Many in the district may recognise these students.

Howard said "The experience can only be described as amazing.  In fact, there were many parallels to the GSE experience in France, where the families provided very generous hospitality and gifts. Being shown around by the Japanese families meant that more was seen and experienced than could ever be expected as a tourist.  One classic moment in Kanazawa when visiting the historic home of the mother of one of the “Lords”, Mayu father (a Shinto priest) met the manager of the city’s museums.  He offered a personal tour of an area not open to the public – an area of traditional tea ceremonies.  A very detailed description followed with the comment that only the Japanese Emperor and Imperial leaders would ever sit in that room (on the floor).  The Japanese with us were very honoured to be allowed in that room, we still cannot believe that opportunity actually happened."

Jill and Howard were invited to the wedding and then Howard was invited to speak at the wedding with Hana interpreting.)
