How time flies, here we are heading towards the end of another calendar year, but also the halfway mark of our Rotary year.

With Clubs enjoying their Christmas functions, and Club activities supporting their communities at this time, we must also allow time for ourselves and our families to reconnect, recharge and enjoy some time together.  The past two years have restricted these opportunities and we must make the most of this festive season, be thankful for what we have, and enjoy being together. Please also give thought to those in our communities that may not be so fortunate and help by supporting any programs that bring joy during this time.

As District Governor, it has been a busy past few months with Club visitations high on the list of activities.  I continue to be amazed by the number of programs, events, service projects and community support that Clubs undertook.  I say thank you and congratulations for all your commitment and work in providing ‘Service Above Self.’

The new year will bring new opportunities and challenges to us all.  Please reach out to any members of the District team who can help Clubs in achieving their goals and aspirations.  Rotary faces challenges in growing it’s membership alongside other service groups in our communities.  Dare to be different in making your Clubs more attractive to your community by meeting their needs and expectations, but also making your meetings more interesting, engaging and less formal.  Ideas to achieve this include hosting more social events and service work to utilizing technology to host online guest speakers, joint Club meetings, District team connections and more.  Consider connecting with like-minded groups in your communities and taking part in their activities so that we can expand our reach.

Invitations with information have been circulated calling for nominations for the District Governor position for the Rotary year 204-25.  I encourage Rotarians who meet the criteria to give some thought in nominating for this position.  I am happy to take a call from interested members who wish to apply.

District Conference is scheduled for March 18-19, 2022 in Port Fairy.  I apologize for not having registration open by now.  Planning has fallen behind mainly due to venue booking approval from local Council and commitment by caterers. Full information will be out in the coming weeks.

Heather and I wish all Rotarians and their families a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.  I look forward to completing the remainder of my Club visitations and enjoying the company of other Rotarians.
